It’s hard to keep the Fitchburg State College women’s soccer team off Elliot Field, even if it’s during summer vacation.

McConnell Receives

Scroll down Devan McConnell’s Facebook profile and you’ll come across a quote: “Luck is when opportunity meets preparation.” For the recent Fitchburg State graduate, who earned a degree in Exercise and Sport Science, his dedication and work ethic have been rewarded by earning the 2008 Howard C. Smith Award, which recognizes academic and athletic excellence.

Hall of Fame

An amazing grouping of former athletes, families and supporters came together at the College in April for a moving ceremony celebrating individual, group and historic accomplishments of Falcon athletes at the 2008 Alumni Awards and Athletic Hall of Fame Dinner. The 2008 inductees are:

Spring Season Wrap-Up
The Athletic Department held its annual Awards Banquet on May 6, 2008. The Paul K.Waring Athletes of the Year awards were presented to Diana Doyle (Women’s Basketball) and Marlon Thornton (Football). Other award winners included Senior Scholar Athletes of the Year Katie Campbell (Women’s Soccer) and Devan McConnell (Ice Hockey), Athletic Leadership Award winner Leo Cote (Men’s Soccer), Kruczek Award winner Stephen Schofield (Ice Hockey), and Rookies of the Year Kelley Rogers (Women’s Basketball) and Chris Riggs (Ice Hockey).
